Goa - Last of the Portugese Bastions
With a 131km long coastline of silvery sands, golden beaches, spectacular sunsets and turquoise blue waters, Goa has for long been rightfully ranked as one of the world’s best beach resorts. The last of the Portugese bastions, its strong influence is found all over in its churches, mansions, cuisine and people. With Latin villas, overhanging balconies, narrow cobbled streets and pristine white churches, Goa is truly unlike any other place in India.
Above all, it is one big, endless party, with reverberations of rhythm and music found all over. Central Goa has it all – sun, sea, sand and fun. Swing to the beat of the carnival, hang out on the beach, tuck into some delicious vindaloo or simply spend a quiet moment in a lovely, old church. Visit elegant sleepy villages, go sight-seeing along the river mangroves that shelter a variety of birds or lie back and sip feni, the fermented juice of a cashew fruit. Cap it all in the night-time, with a moonlight cruise.
Some of its numerous beaches include Calangute, Baga, Colva and Bagatore; each name literally dripping the essence of its culture & heritage. As a water sports paradise that can’t be beat, it offers pedal boating, acqua bikes, wind surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, water scooters and even bungee jumping. Like they say, if you haven’t seen Goa, you haven’t really traveled.
